Ventura City Corps

The Ventura Commerce and Education Foundation is pleased to be supporting the efforts and development of the Ventura City Corps. The program is a proposed youth development program involving 12-24 year old, at-risk, marginalized and other interested youth with community projects and services; bringing quality service to the community and providing work ethic, fellowship, self esteem and leadership to the youth; allowing them to organize and manage those projects.  There are educational components to encourage continuing formal education and to enhance leadership abilities and opportunities for the older youth to earn wages.
 
The program is being modeled after the Oxnard City Corps program which has shown that youth and young adults can be engaged in positive activities benefiting the city and providing leadership skills.

Oxnard City Corps exposes youth ages 12-24 to experiential learning and hands-on training through a variety of projects and activities.

Oxnard City Corps nurtures personal initiative, fosters leadership development, and teaches civic responsibility and active citizenship to its members. We believe in recognizing and affirming the individual worth and contributions of today's youth in the community.
