GREEN TASK FORCE

In collaboration with the City of Ventura and local agencies dedicated to a "greener" environment,
the mission of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce Green Task Force is to empower the local business
community to work "green" through Chamber-led community projects and educational initiatives that
will positively impact the environment.

Guiding Principles

  • Drive economic development through green principles and sustainability.
  • Develop community-based projects and events to raise awareness and generate support for environmental concerns and sustainable practices.
  • Create green business practices to be adopted and used by the Chamber and local businesses.
  • Act as a central repository for information for local programs, events, projects, incentives, and resources related to environmental sustainability.
  • Create green business tools and opportunities to educate and support local businesses. Increase Chamber membership through promotion of our vision for a "green" Ventura, with emphasis on attracting small emerging "green" businesses.

A Day Without a Plastic Bag Event-December 15th, 2011

The Chamber's Green Task Force is partnering with the Surfrider Foundation to encourage the community to go without plastic bags on Thursday, December 15th, 2011. We will be at select local grocery stores to hand out reusable bags. If you have some extra, clean reusable bags, we need them. If you have bags with your company name and logo, even better! Please participate in this event by dropping off your reusable bags at the Chamber office or at the next Chamber breakfast on December 2nd, 2011. Volunteers are also needed to hand out bags for a few hours at participating stores. We would like to collect 1,000 bags! For more information, contact James Davis at associatedelectric@msn.com.
