Sacramento Trip

Nine members of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce joined forty other business leaders from the Regional Legislative Alliance of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties (RLA) at the annual California Chamber’s Business Legislative Summit this May 21 and 22, 2007.  Nearly one thousand business leaders from across the state descend on Sacramento for two days of lobbying and networking with legislators and government officials.
 
Chamber representatives spent two days in the State Capitol discussing a myriad of legislative bills via workshops and individual meetings that will have impact on business. 
                                                                                                                                       
On May 21, the groups heard Special Guest Speaker, Howard Fineman, of Newsweek and on May 22, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and California Chamber Board Chair, Russell Gould addressed the business group at a breakfast.  Later that day, the RLA had scheduled meetings with our legislative representatives and different members of the executive branch including, Lynn Jacobs, Director, Housing and Community Development.    
 
President/CEO, Zoe Taylor explains, “This annual trip to Sacramento provides the Chamber leadership with an inside view of how government works, the opportunity to network with other business leaders throughout the state, and relay our positions on key legislation.  This trip is open to all members of the Chamber.  It is always a real eye-opener for persons attending for the first time.  This Chamber is very fortunate to have a group of dedicated business volunteers who take their time to deal with these meaty issues that affect everyone.”
